Our client provide grounds maintenance, winter gritting and snow clearance, tree surgery, interior and exterior plant displays, as well as a design and build service to clients from within the Private and Public sectors.

They are looking for Interiors Supervisor to join their Interior plants teams.

 

  Aim of Role:

To effectively supervise your team on a daily basis, ensuring that the requirements of the client and the specification are fully met for the enjoyment, recreation and safety of the site, employees and visitors. Provide support to the line manager in relation to the teamâ??s compliance of company procedures and policies.  The prime focus of this role is the organisation and allocation of people and machinery.

Responsibilities:

  • ·        To supervise teams during morning starts and evening returns to ensure smooth operations during the week.
  • ·        To work with the management team to ensure there is sufficient floating cover to enable smooth workings during the season and especially during peak holiday periods.
  • ·        To co-ordinate timesheet submissions throughout the team together with managing the holiday calendar for all staff.
  • ·        To help identify training needs throughout the team and encourage professional development of the team.
  • ·        To carry our regular checks on site to monitor plant quality.
  • ·        To be conversant with the needs of each of the clientâ??s contractual terms (where required).
  • ·        To effectively supervise your team to ensure that activities and tasks are undertaken to the highest possible safety standards and in accordance with the contract
  • ·        To liaise with your client (where required) in a professional manner providing information as agreed.
  • ·        Proactively report incidents, suggestions, or concerns regarding the site/s, clients or team to your line manager.
  • ·        Participate in and conduct staff and other meetings ensuring records are complete. E.G. Business Briefs
  • ·        Supervise and assist with installations of additional planters and or Christmas trees
  • ·        Ensure the cleanliness/tidiness of their work areas on site and the overall cleanliness/tidiness of their works vehicle and refer major mechanical problems to your line manager.
  • ·        To work as part of a team with the aim of ensuring productive working relationships within the team, with other employees, managers, clients, the public and end users.
  • ·        Proactively report incidents, suggestions, or concerns regarding the sites/s, or team to your line manager.
  • ·        To be practically conversant with the use, general cleaning and basic maintenance of the locally used equipment.
  • ·        Participate in own training/development courses to improve ability and effectiveness to carry out duties.
  • ·        Comply with and set an example to others in relation to all company and site procedures and regulations.
  • ·        Train less experienced staff on the job at the request of the line manager.
  • ·        Ensure that safety procedures and safe working practices are observed, specifically with regard to COSHH and Risk Assessments, reporting accidents and near misses to your line manager.
  • ·        To undertake any other duties that may be required within your area of your responsibility.

 

Health, Safety and Hygiene

  • ·        Follow correct working practices in use of equipment and materials and adopt safe working practices to safeguard the safety of others as well as oneself.
  • ·        Always wear correct PPE, adhering to the company standard as set out in the Employee Handbook 
  • ·        Report all Near Misses and/or accidents to your line management
  • ·        Always maintain a high degree of security, if you are a key holder, whilst working you will be expected to follow correct access procedures to buildings and not infringe any data protection regulations.

Training

  • ·        Attend Company/Site induction.
  • ·        Attend individual and team, monthly training as directed
  • ·        Continuous personal development opportunities to be taken where possible

 Relevant Qualification and Training

(Ideally one or more of the qualifications listed below, dependent upon site or contract)

  •          City and Guilds/NVQ Amenity Horticulture Stage I and II and III or equivalent.
  •          HND Amenity Horticulture or equivalent.
  •          RHS General Horticulture or equivalent.
  •          National Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent.
  •          PA1/PA6 in Spraying.

Skills and Experience

  •          Experience of Corporate and/or Local Authority Grounds Maintenance.
  •          Experience of people supervision or management.
  •          Practical use of ride on mowers, hedge trimmers, strimmerâ??s, scarifiers, tractor driving.
  •          Previous experience of bedding out, pruning and lawn edging.
  •           A demonstrable ability to establish and sustain good working relationship within a team environment or the ability and initiative to work alone
  •          Aptitude to communicate effectively with colleagues and members of the public
  •          Holds valid driving licence preferably with legal and practical ability to use a trailer
  •          Basic computer skills
