Job Overview:
As a Garden Maintenance Team Leader, you will lead a team to perform regular maintenance and one-off garden tasks, including clearances and tidies. You will ensure the team operates efficiently, maintaining high standards of work while managing safety and client relationships. You will also mentor team members, passing on your horticultural knowledge and fostering their development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of garden operatives for regular maintenance and one-off garden tasks (e.g., clearances, tidies)
  • Perform gardening tasks including mowing, trimming, edging, planting, watering, and fertilising plants, shrubs, and trees
  • Prune, shape, and maintain plants for health and appearance
  • Weed garden beds and remove unwanted plants and debris
  • Monitor and adjust irrigation systems as needed
  • Safely apply pesticides and herbicides
  • Operate hand and power tools (lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers)
  • Ensure the team follows health and safety protocols
  • Mentor and develop team members, encouraging learning and skill-building
  • Communicate effectively with clients and office staff, ensuring client satisfaction
  • Record visits and progress via our online app
  • Plan daily schedules and ensure tools and equipment are available and ready
  • Upsell services and collaborate with sales teams for additional work
  • Ensure smooth travel between sites in London and surrounding areas

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 2 yearsâ?? experience in garden maintenance or groundskeeping
  • Strong horticultural knowledge: plant care, irrigation, fertilising, pruning, and pest control
  • Proven leadership skills in managing teams and delivering high standards of work
  • Experience with hand tools and power equipment
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure, especially during busy seasons
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • A genuine passion for horticulture and sustainable practices
  • Organised, self-motivated, proactive, and able to use initiative
  • Full, clean UK driving licence (essential)
  • A horticultural qualification or relevant experience is highly desirable
  • Previous experience in horticultural management is essential
