EXPERIENCED GARDENER REQUIRED

Working hours 7am or 8am to 4.30pm or 5.30pm Monday to Friday

£37k per annum starting salary (subject to plant knowledge) with pay rise after 12 months.

Our client is an exciting and expanding garden and landscape design company.

They believe that gardens come from plants and not from concrete.

Based in central London, but occasionally working outside of London and willing to spend nights away, as a potential Senior Gardener you will work in the gardens of private individuals. In addition to your horticultural role, you will be expected to deal with hard landscaping, carpentry and paperwork. Training will be provided. You will be expected to ensure that colleagues adhere to the highest of standards; organise your colleagues movements; ordering materials and liaising with clients. After a trial period of time, you will be expected to deal directly with clients.

Applicants should have:

  • Excellent horticultural knowledge, from plant identification to pest identification and from pruning techniques to plant care. I.e., to recognize the difference between a Borage and Foxglove seedling, between a woolly aphid and a vine weevil, an espalier and a fan-trained Apple. Training will be provided.
  • Experience in hard landscaping and carpentry (training will be provided).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, be creative and have the highest standards of horticultural practice and tidiness.
  • Be able to lead a team and motivate staff.
  • Be punctual, tidy in appearance and have good common sense.
  • Be able to communicate clearly with clients, staff and be able to keep records (fluent in written English)
  • A full clean UK driving licence and be happy to work out of London with occasional nights away.
  • Working hours 7am or 8am to  4.30pm or 5.30pm Monday to Friday
  • References will be required.

Note: you will take a plant identification test during the interview, training on plant knowledge if required.

  • £37k per annum starting salary (subject to plant knowledge) with pay rise after 12 months.
