Our client specialises in high end bespoke landscape construction projects, they are looking to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager.

They design and construct exceptional external spaces for high end properties in West/North London, Surrey and the M4 corridor.

They also undertake bespoke, design-led civil contracts for the RHS, Historic Royal Palaces, the Royal Parks and local councils.

Contract values vary between £20k to over £2m and with around 8 projects running simultaneously and a company turnover of over 8 million this role will be busy, exciting and a chance to showcase superb landscaping and management talent.

The company is based in Surrey, but the role will mainly focus on projects around North and West London and the M4 corridor. The candidate will primarily work with the Contracts Director, with a dedicated team support of a Contracts Coordinator.

The role holder will manage a varied portfolio of projects, being accountable for their successful execution from start to post completion. A proven ability to deliver superlative quality work within budget, focusing on exceeding stakeholder expectations is paramount.

Main Duties:

  • Ensuring projects are run smoothly, safely, to programme and are profitable
  • Liaison with project stakeholders
  • Scheduling and programme formatting and amending
  • Sourcing and procuring materials
  • Labour control and scheduling
  • Sub-Contractor awards
  • Control and pricing of variations with the assistance of the office based QS
  • Producing progress valuations with the assistance of a junior office base QS
  • Team management both directly employed and sub-contractors

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum of five years of Contracts management experience within landscaping
  • A track record of being a working landscaping foreman both hard and soft, with strong knowledge landscaping techniques, materials and possible issues
  • Expertise of working from landscaping plans and handling all contractual / project documents
  • A solid and practical understanding of the importance of Health & Safety at work
  • A proven ability in managing stakeholder relationships: clients, industry professionals, contractors and suppliers etc.
  • Ability to proactively estimate for new business.
  • A strong communicator, both verbal and written
  • Numerate and technically minded
  • Literate in the relevant industry IT software, as well as the standard business IT packages


Qualifications

  • A relevant horticultural / landscaping qualification (essential)
  • Black level CSCS qualified (preferred)
  • SMSTS (preferred)
  • Project management qualification (preferred)
  • Full UK drivers license (essential)


Package

  • Salary - £50,000 plus gross per annum, dependant on experience and with review upon successful 6 month probation
