Our client is a professional and highly experienced horticultural business, delivering and maintaining high end landscape projects across London to both commercial and private clients. We have an exciting opportunity for a Head Gardener to oversee production of over 40 trees and the landscape maintenance of a large-scale residential development in West London.

Ideally you will have multiple years of experience in industry with knowledge and experience of best horticultural practices for plant/tree production and general landscape maintenance operations. We are looking for someone with ambition, attention to detail and a passion for horticulture. Good personal organisation, ability to work in a team and prioritise workloads is very important. This position will involve working closely with our senior management team and client to deliver this project to a high level. 

Job Description

  • To grow/maintain a large Tree Nursery (450+ Trees) to a high quality, fulfilling the production targets to meet a long-term growth plan.
  • To implement good nursery housekeeping and hygiene procedures.
  • To oversee the potting operation, maintaining high standards in both plant quality and efficient safe working practises.
  • To monitor tree health, provide suitable and adequate control of pest, disease, and weeds, ensuring an integrated and informed approach to application of plant protection products.
  • Ensure the Health & Safety of the site and all its operations, following company policies and procedures.
  • Provide regular and comprehensive feedback to line manager.
  • Liaison with the main site team to ensure smooth logistical operations.
  • Oversee and be hands on managing/maintaining a large residential development with large scale landscape areas.
  • Manage a team of maintenance gardeners

Candidate Skills

This is a hands-on role, and will require a candidate with horticultural, experience at a high level.  Attributes required:

  • Experience of growing hardy nursery stock mainly trees.
  • Experience of managing a team of people
  • Enthusiastic, practical, and driven to succeed.
  • A team player.
  • Good organisational and IT skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable in a customer facing role.
  • Full driving licence required.
  • Experience in landscape maintenance (Essential)
  • Full Clean UK Driving License (Desirable)

 

PAY â?? up to £33,00.00 per annum DOE

Hours â?? 7:30am-4:30pm Mon-Friday (occasional Saturday work may be required)

CPD Training ongoing.
