Business Development Lead - Horticulture

Purpose of the role:

To cultivate and maintain relationships among our current and potential clients by increasing sales across all product lines while also developing strategies / ideas to increase revenue.  Designing planting schemes for clients on small to large projects, supporting Directors and General Manager with sales and tenders. Develop relationships with current key clients and to make sure contract renewals are completed.  Developing relationships with Facilities companies and ensuring the company are on preferred suppliers lists.  Attending networking and marketing events during and out of business hours to develop the brand. 

Main Responsibilities and requirements:

  • Creating and maintaining relationships with the relevant staff and our clients; recommending updates to planting schemes and proposing any additional displays where possible.
  • Creating regular sales reports and updates to communicate to relevant people the outcomes of any commercial projects.
  • Identifying new leads where relevant â?? via social media, research, word of mouth, networking
  • Leading the companies new B2B and B2C initiatives alongside the Project Coordinator
  • Contribute to the companyâ??s promotional strategy and marketing activities.
  • To represent the company as a senior member of staff and act accordingly.
  • To produce project orders / upgrades instructions for managers and independently organise ordering of items.
  • To liaise with managers, staff, clients and suppliers and plan projects where required.
  • To run projects independently on site ensuring they are executed and completed to a high standard in accordance with the business and client expectations.
  • To prioritise tasks and duties and delegate these to staff appropriately in a clear and respectful manner.
  • To supervise staff on clients sites when present, in order to ensure staff are working efficiently and effectively during working hours.
  • To ensure staff work safely in accordance with company training, risk assessments and H&S Policy
  • To ensure staff under your supervision and instruction carry out duties and complete tasks to a high standard in accordance with the company and client expectations.

Additional Responsibilities central to the role:

  • To ensure the safety of all staff and other persons who may be affected by the companies work and related activities carried out under their supervision or instruction.
  • To ensure suitable and sufficient risk assessments and method statements are completed for  upgrades, projects, weekend work or any task requiring additional RAMS, and that these are communicated to staff and signed off.
  • To ensure all relevant paperwork is completed and processed appropriately via the correct channels, including but not limited to: timesheets, job slips, risk assessments, method statements, delivery notes, order forms, accident reports, and any other documentation related to the role.
  • To ensure any additional scheduled work is entered into your calendar and communicated to the relevant parties at the company and update on any alterations as required.
  • To deal with client complaints in a professional manner and promptly contact a manager for assistance to avoid escalation.
  • To check quality of work from projects, installations and ensure work is up to standard and clients expectations.
  • To report back to management immediately, any problems or difficulties that cannot be resolved independently, or any concerns you may have about standards of work, behaviour or other related issues.
  • Any other duties as appropriate to the post.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

Skills/ Training:

  • Written and verbal communication should be clear and precise.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to communicate respectfully with a wide variety of individuals.
  • Good knowledge of London area
  • Driving licence preferred but not essential
  • Strong time management and administrative skills.
  • Strong plant maintenance skills and a broad knowledge of different plants and their requirements
  • Ability to work on own initiative and impart that initiative professionally.
  • Strong organisational ability.
  • The ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Creative and ability to solve tough problems.
  • Strong computer literacy and knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, Powerpoint.
  • Strong numeracy skill and understanding of budgets and margins.

Hours:

                                                   
40 Hours per week - Monday to Friday â?? 830am to 430pm with a 30 minute paid lunch break â?? depending on business requirements. Some weekends in busy periods / out of hours work. Flexible working from client sites / home if required / approved by your manager/ networking events.
