We are looking for a Contracts Manager to join our Landscapes team across the South. This role will require you to manage and deliver a cost effective service to both internal and external contracts in relation to soft services. This role is initially on a fixed term contract of 12 months but maybe extended / lead to a permanent position.
What your role will be
As a Contracts Manager within the Landscapes Division you will manage a number of both direct labour and sub contract teams across London and the SE. Your role will be operational, working closely with your team (s), building relationships through training, coaching, staff development and the organisation of your staff teamâ??s rotas.
You will take the lead to actively promote and demonstrate the Groupâ??s commitment to effective health and safety, working with contractors to ensure that all requirements are adhered to. Working from home you will require flexibility to cover a wide geographical area across London, the Home Counties and South Coast, some overnight stays are anticipated as part of this role. You will continually identify innovative and safe working practices, as well as following and implementing budgetary controls. You will act as the line manager for an operational workforce of internal and external contractors monitoring and managing work volumes and ensuring the high level service delivery.
You will build effective relationships with both internal staff, customers and contractors through effective communication and engagement. As our Contract Manager you will ensure that all work carried out adhered to our SPIRIT values in line with the strategy and objectives set by the Head of Operations, Group Directors and Board.
Your background
We are looking for a candidate who can bring a number of different management skills to the team, someone who will lead by example â??hit the road runningâ?? and â??get stuck inâ??. You will be working within a small existing team managing an existing settled portfolio. Previous experience in a similar position is essential, and experience of managing a direct and sub contracted delivery service in a multi-site horticultural environment is likely to be key to your success.
For this role, you will need a full valid driving licence and would be beneficial to have a trailer licence (B+E) or have passed your driving test prior to 1997 and have this entitlement. A good understanding of both Microsoft Excel and Word are desirable as well as a general competence in the use of reporting applications via an IPad.
